ARTIST BIO

Hannah May is a Tasmania-born and based singer, songwriter, and pianist who has been crafting soulful, genre-blending music for over 20 years. Over the years, Hannah has shared stages with an impressive list of acclaimed artists, including Clare Bowditch, Damon Albarn (Blur) at the Sydney Opera House, Ian Moss, Wes Carr, The Audreys, Daniel Champagne, Bobby Flynn, and Monique Brumby. In 2018, she performed to a sold-out audience at Melbourne’s Paris Cat Jazz Club in a tribute show titled Hannah May Sings Norah Jones, which also featured her original work.

Her songs have been featured regularly on both local and national radio with her songs co-produced by Rob Long,  and Matt Boden - Sigh, Ring The Bell, and Little Flower  and Bottle of Tea, co-produced by ARIA winning singer/songwriter and producer Monique Brumby.

Her songs have received regular success through songwriting competitions over the years, including 'Sigh' being placed 2nd in The National Australian Songwriting Competition.   She has performed on many stages and festivals including The Sydney Opera House, Palais Theatre  Falls Festival, Cygnet Folk Festival, MONA, Salamanca Art Centre, Government House, and the Theatre Royal.

In 2023, Hannah May took to the stage as both a member of an a cappella group and a featured vocal soloist in the acclaimed play Women of Troy (10 Days on the Island), performing alongside celebrated actors Marta Dusseldorp and Sarah Peirse.

In 2024, she  was the support for Monique Brumby at the iconic Brunswick Ballroom in Melbourne as well as playing piano in Brumby’s band alongside renowned producer and keyboardist David Bridie (My Friend the Chocolate Cake).

Hannah May is working on releasing new music under engineer/producer Eliza Bird (Frying Pan Studios, MONA) and Melbourne engineer, Steve Scanlon (Tina Arena, Vanessa Amorosi) with two new singles set to be released in 2025 and 2026.
